Volcanic lightning, also known as a dirty thunderstorm, is the unusual weather occurrence which can happen inside of a volcanic plume. The phenomenon has been spotted around the world at locations such as the Chaiten Volcano in Chile and Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull and more with photographers capturing it all in dramatic photos.
