Ukranian pilot Oleksandr Akopov was flying an Airbus A320 out of Istanbul Atatürk Airport when they hit a hail storm at 4,000 feet. The nose of the aircraft was destroyed and the windows were smashed to the point the pilot had zero forward visibility.
With very few options, Akopov made the decision to return to the airport and attempt a landing. By tilting the plane to use the side windows and coordinating with the tower, Akopov was able to make a miracle landing.
