There are some days when you think to yourself: Can Bill Murray be any cooler?
The answer is always yes. Yes, he can.
The iconic star of film and television is a legend who has amassed a number of accolades over the years including an Emmy award, a Golden Globe, and Oscar nomination for his spectacular performance in the film, Lost In Translation.
But it appears that Murray will now be able to add another prestigious honor to his resume, only this time one that finally acknowledges the contributions the star has made to the world of sports — as he and his five brothers have now been inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame.
Yes, the Caddie Hall of Fame. Which should come as no surprise to any person who has ever stepped onto a green and overheard lines from the movie Caddyshack replicated verbatim by golfers all around the world.
The ceremony took place at a private Dinner at the BMW Championship Pro Am.
According to SB Nation, the decision to honor the five brothers was a no-brainer, considering the bulk of the movie was based on their experiences (brother Brian Doyle Murphy co-wrote the screenplay). And as film buffs know, Murray was responsible for ad-libbing a majority of the lines that have since become some of the most quoted lines in all of American cinema.
Thank goodness the good people in the Caddy Hall of Fame had the good sense to honor one of the biggest stars to help put them on the map.
And to Bill Murray, never stop being you. Here’s hoping we see your antics on the golf course for years to come.
