Bill Tyra and his son Josh, of South Anchorage, Alaska, got a front row view of nature’s mating rites when two big old bulls began fighting in a driveway of their suburban neighborhood.
Clearly, the rut is on. Beginning in late summer and peaking in mid-fall, the rut brings out the aggression in otherwise docile (at least most of the time) males.
During the rut, bulls begin competing for breeding rights while females, for once, are actually impressed by dominance displays.
One of the moose clearly gets the upper hand, and flips the other onto the ground. Very cool footage.
