Artist Turns an Abandoned Gas Station into a Spectacular Live-In Studio (17 Photos)

We haven’t seen many gas stations that are cool enough to be turned into an art gallery, but this mid-century modern gas station in Berlin had just the right amount of pizazz to make the transition. After years of passing by the abandoned Shell gasoline station in the city’s Schöneberg district, artist Juerg Judin bought the place and transformed it with the help of local firm BFS Design over the next few years. He renovated the original station, added a new kitchen, built a new wing, and created a lush, landscaped garden with a lily pond. The renovated gas station now serves as Judin’s live-in-studio.
