There is just something so satisfying about watching a blacksmith turn lumps of metal into something beautiful, like armour or a sword. Bladesmith Tony Swatton recreates a Roman gladius in this video, and it is a treat to watch.
Swatton attempts to recreate the lost art of Damascus steel smithing by using layers of metal to create a pattern. Of course, back then there was no way to weld the metal to hold it in place, but this is still far too impressive.
Oh, the video was shot using a RED Weapon 8K camera. Not that anyone has an 8K screen to watch it on, but if I ever did, this is the video I would watch.
